List of Acceptable BMP's
Silt Fence (SF)
Silt fences (SF) are a great way to keep sediment on the construction site. By placing these fences around the border there is a much smaller chance of pollutants leaving the site and entering nearby waters.
Construction Fence (CF)
A construction fence (CF) is recommended around the perimeter if the adjacent area is developed or consists of a public use area. The use of construction fences will discourage vehicle access over the top of BMP's and encourage the use of the construction entrance.
Sediment Basin (SB)
A sediment basin (SB) is an impoundment that captures sediment-laden runoff and releases it slowly, providing prolonged settling times to capture coarse and fine-grained soil particles.
Sediment Trap (ST)
A sediment trap (ST) consists of a rip rap berm with a small upstream basin that acts to trap coarse sediment particles.
These are just a few of the acceptable BMP's. There is a full list in the ESC Manual found below or on the publications page.
